The 4th Australian JSF Advanced Technology and Innovation Conference ran from the 3rd to 5th of May 2010. The Conference, formally opened by The Hon. Greg Combet AM MP, Minister for Defence Personnel, Materiel and Science, was held at Hilton On The Park, Melbourne, in a formal conference format focused on advanced technology relevant to JSF. The Conference, initiated by Air Vic-Marshall John Harvey, Program Manager, New Air Combat Capability (NACC), was an excellent opportunity for Australian industry and research organisations to get together to share their knowledge and ideas and to identify future opportunities.

A key objective of the Australian Government in joining the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Project is to achieve a significant involvement by Australian industry and research organisations throughout the production life of the JSF Program. The NACC Project has been working to identify a national R&D base which will be needed to support long term involvement in future JSF development activities.

AOS was presented with a Technology and Innovation Award by Air Vice-Marshall Harvey at the Conference Dinner, in recognition of AOS's contribution to the program.

The Australian JSF Advanced Technology and Innovation Conference was a key part of this initiative, and was attended by key staff from the US JSF Project Office, Lockheed, BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce, along with DSTO and defence representatives.

In November 2009 the Australian Government approved acquisition of Australia’s initial 14 JSF aircraft. This Conference represents a timely opportunity for R&D agencies and industry to update on the progress of their technology and innovation programs and to identify requirements to achieve success in their JSF endeavours.
