Game Developers Conference and BRIMS 2009

AOS was one of only ten software companies invited to demo at the Serious Games Summit, part of this year’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

Matteo Pedrotti and Andy Park presented our CoJACK-VBS2 demonstration at the Summit’s ‘Democade’ on Tuesday afternoon, 24 March, and audience interest exceeded even the demo’s debut at the I/ITSEC conference in December 2008. 

Most current games have, at most, fairly rudimentary AI (Artificial Intelligence) but CoJACK can change all that by adding a realistic, human behaviour layer on top of existing game software. The market advantages of readily boosting AI was not lost on game developers, and Matteo and Andy were nearly overwhelmed by questions and requests to run the demo ‘hands-on’.

This year’s BRIMS conference (Behavior Representation in Modeling & Simulation) was held last week in Sundance, Utah. Our paper: Populating VBS2 with Realistic Virtual Actors was presented by co-author Prof. Frank E. Ritter on Wednesday, 1 April. 

Andy Park represented AOS at the conference and assisted Dr Ritter with questions on the CoJACK-VBS2 integration. This paper marked our third consecutive BRIMS conference presentation.
