Minister Price opened the Northrop Grumman Australia ‘Parallax Labs’, a new AU$20 million state-of-the-art systems integration, visualisation and demonstration facility, on Dec. 1, 2021.
Parallax Labs is a fully immersive software development environment that enables collaborators to test and visualise new technology solutions. It is designed to showcase Northrop Grumman’s local and international capabilities with industry partners in a way that preserves the integrity of sensitive or classified information.
Unlike traditional labs, which are confined to a physical space, Parallax Labs is a truly distributed environment that can easily be scaled through the cloud to incorporate new locations in Australia and overseas. It brings the advantages of model-based systems engineering, advanced simulation and high-level automation to systems development, integration and test activities.
Mr. Shane Kimball (AOS Group) – seen to the right of the photo, as Mr. Chris Deeble AO, (Executive Director Strategy, Northrop Grumman AUS) and The Hon Melissa Price MP (Minister for Defence Industry) cut the ribbon at the opening of Northrop Grumman Australia’s $20 million Parallax Labs in Canberra.
In the leadup to the launch, AOS presented its highly innovative Intelligent Battlespace Advisor (IBA™). Its primary purpose is to help air surveillance operators identify potential military aircraft threats amongst the hundreds of tracks covering Southeast Asia. This is an enormously challenging task for any human and the IBA™ system’s value is to highlight only those aircraft that require closer scrutiny, greatly reducing the number of false positive alerts.
